TUI Holiday Search

One of the key booking flows within TUI is booking a holiday. This wasn’t previously a native experience on the app; it used to link to the mobile responsive TUI website after completing a search.

To increase sales on the app, work began to make the holiday booking flow a completely native experience. The first iteration was the holiday results screen. It had to cater for different markets, not only in terms of the language but also to accommodate different ratings systems. This meant we needed to design in a componentized way.

Holiday details.

The next stage of the flow was the holiday details screen. We took the current mobile web screen and mapped it to a native app experience. There were key sections that we broke down into different components and then began trying out different options for them.

Holiday details components.

We worked in a component way to try out different variables for sections of the screen. These options were then printed out and presented on boards to help generate feedback and discussion from stakeholders and feature team members.

Final design.

Once we had gone through various rounds of feedback with stakeholders, source markets and the dev team, we arrived at the below design.

Both the holiday results and detail screens have helped to lift conversion by up to 30% which fulfilled the aim of taking these screens native. New improvements have also been added to the booking flow including filtering of results and shortlisting holidays.
